Our data methodology
Pet Aftercare Finder is a lead-generation marketplace, which means our incentives could easily push us toward publishing more than we know. This page is the commitment we hold ourselves to instead.
What we publish
- Providers — only real businesses whose existence and contact details we have checked against their own published information, with the source URL and check date stored on the record.
- Service capabilities — recorded as yes, no, or not verified. “Not verified” is displayed as such and never rendered as a yes.
- Prices — only prices the provider publishes themselves, stored with the source URL, the date checked, the weight band and what the price includes.
- Laws — links to the official state agency source, with a review date, rather than a paraphrase of statute.
What we never do
- Invent providers, addresses or phone numbers to fill a market page.
- Estimate a price, publish a national average, or present a guess as a range.
- Display ratings or review counts we have not collected.
- Claim certifications, association memberships or 24/7 availability on a provider's behalf.
- Imply that Pet Aftercare Finder performs cremation, transport, euthanasia or veterinary care.
How market price ranges are calculated
A market range is the minimum and maximum of verified, provider-published prices we hold for that market and service. We require at least two independent verified prices before showing a range, and we display the number of records and the most recent check date alongside it. If we hold fewer than two, the page says so rather than showing a range built on one data point.
How coverage expands
We launched in 25 markets across five states. New markets are added on evidence: demonstrated local search demand plus a verifiable provider base we can actually check. Requests from ZIPs we don't cover are recorded as uncovered-market signals, which is the primary input into where we expand next. We do not pre-generate city pages for markets we have not researched.
When we keep a page out of search
- Provider profiles carrying only a name, address, phone number and website are noindexed — there is not enough substance there to deserve an indexable page.
- Records pending re-verification are noindexed until they are checked again.
- Funnel steps, confirmation states and unmatched-ZIP results are not indexable pages.
Corrections
If you are a provider and something on your record is wrong or out of date, email providers@petaftercarefinder.com and we will correct or unpublish it. Pet owners can report an issue at care@petaftercarefinder.com.
