Handling a larger dog safely
Weight makes this the main practical difference from other pets.
- Use a blanket as a sling with two people rather than lifting alone.
- Avoid stairs where possible; ask the provider whether they will assist with removal from inside the home.
- Tell the provider your dog's approximate weight when you call — it affects both the price band and staffing.
Keep your dog cool until collection
Place your dog on a towel or blanket in the coolest practical room. Direct heat accelerates body changes, so shade and airflow matter more than anything else you can do.
Confirm the weight band before you agree to a price
Because dog cremation is priced by weight band, a quote is only meaningful once the provider knows your dog's weight. Ask for the price for that specific band.
